On the Incompleteness of Archaeological Narratives

Introductory chapter from Moore, Jenny and Scott, Eleanor 1997 Invisible People and Processes: writing gender and childhood into European archaeology

I've scanned and posted this chapter below. It was written to primarily to engage the audience with the rationale for the book, so it welcomed all-comers - students, post-grads, lecturers, archaeologists from all sectors, academics from other fields, and all interested readers. At the time I was a Lecturer in Archaeology at Winchester and also working for the Open University's Classical Studies department.

It's clearly of it's time, but ... I discuss in this blog piece how I feel now about pages 4-5 in particular; the POMO red flag seems to me to still warrant discussion some twenty years later.
